FAQ

Got questions on your baby hip seat? We have the answers! Scan below for some frequently asked and answered questions on our products. Don’t see your question? Feel free to contact us and we’ll get back to you right away!

What are the differences between the available models?

The majority of hipseat manufacturing companies use artilon foam for the waist belt pad. But here at Hipseat.ca we realized that artilon doesn’t last as long as some other products. And after some period of use, the waist belt can be folded, losing its supportability.

We use E.V.A. (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate) foam material for the waist belt in the deluxe pocket model to provide better durability and promote longer life.

What waist size will the HipSeat fit?

Our HipSeat is equipped with a 46-inch length Velcro strap. We recommend this product for moms, dads and other caretakers with a waist size of 40 inches or less.

Shouldn’t it have shoulder straps?

This is the benefit of HipSeat’s innovative product! Traditional baby carriers create excess strain on your back and shoulders because of those straps. Rather than support the baby’s weight through your core, you’re forced to support your baby’s weight using your shoulders. With our baby hip seat this problem is solved. Of course, you do need to support your baby with at least one hand to ensure she remains on the seat.

How do I wash my HipSeat?

Kids are messy – we know this. That is why we have a baby hip seat that is primed and ready for the messiest of situations. Simply remove the HipSeat cover, toss it in the washer and you’re done. Air drying is best for this product, but once it’s washed it’s ready for use!

When can I start using the HipSeat?

If your baby has developed his back strength, he can be placed on the HipSeat. Babies older than10 months and who weigh a minimum of 22 lbs. are appropriate to sit on the seat, but you can use the HipSeat for elbow and arm support while carrying your younger infant around too.

Up to what age can I use the HipSeat?

The HipSeat Original can hold your baby up to 22 lbs. with ease and our SimpleFit and Deluxe models can hold a toddler up to 44 lbs.

Will I get back pain while using the HipSeat?

While our product is meant to reduce the excess strain on the muscles and joints, keep in mind you’re still carrying a child. The heavier your child is, the more strain on your body – regardless of the carrying device you’re using. You can relieve this strain by distributing yours and your child’s weight evenly. In addition, changing positions every so often will help.
